A recent study has revealed that five Connecticut towns are among the safest communities in the country. The safety-based website SafeWise recently released its rankings of the 2017 100 Safest Cities/Towns in America, on which a number of places in Connecticut earned a spot.
The list was compiled based on an analysis of FBI crime statistics from all 50 states, according to SafeWise. Each city’s public safety, public health and educational offerings were then also taken into account to compile an accurate ranking.
Weston ranks highest on the list at number 6, making it the safest town in the state. The town had no reported violent crime all year thanks in part to its proactive emergency notification system. Weston had previously ranked at number 15 on last year’s list, moving up ten spots over the course of a year.
Other Connecticut communities that ranked elsewhere on the list are Madison (14), Wilton (49), Ridgefield (57) and Canton (85).
Lewisboro, New York, was named the safest city in America for the second year in a row. The city had no reported violent crimes, burglaries or assaults last year and was able to maintain this record for 2017.
